poopy pup

Question
So my dog is just plain confusing me.  He is just about 2 years old.  He will poop an pee outside every morning like clock work.  It doesn't matter if its 6am or 9am, he will absolutely do both every time.  Lately he has developed this habit of pooping outside and then coming inside and pooping again.  This doesn't happen every morning, only occasionally.

Another poopy problem we have with him is much more persistent, and is getting extremely frustrating.  He poops behind our dinning room table.  He definitely knows its wrong, because he hides and keeps hiding from us after he's done.  When he does this, there isn't always a pattern.  He could have just gone outside and pooped, or its right after we leave the house and decide to trust him outside of his crate, or just when we are sitting in the living room.  We have started crating him all the time now when we are gone.  I have tried to treat him when he poops outside.  I praise like crazy when he poops outside.  We have even taped a bell by the door that he rings before we go outside.  I am at a loss, and we have tried numerous things.  Frustration is at an all time high in our house.  PLEASE help!

Answer
When you are around you need to keep a close eye on the dog. Use closed doors or gates to keep it in the same room as you are, and perhaps as I do, a short chain fastened to the computer desk. If you catch it in the act, give it a sharp ''Ah, ah, ah!'' and take it out. When you can't watch it, crate it.

I am a big believer in crates, but hate to see any dog left over 4-5 hours. If you can't make it back to give it a mid day break, see if a neighbor or professional dog walker can. Doggy day care is a great idea too.

To avoid the bowel movement when he comes back in, take it out on leash.  Walk around.  They can only walk and hold it so long.  When it finally has to go, lavish praise on it.
