Question
My 7 month old Maltepoo hasn't had all of his baby teeth fall out yet. He has 3 left, the pointed teeth, one on the bottom and the two on the top are still there with the new adult ones right beside them! Do you know if these take longer to fall out......Have you heard of these poitned teeth just staying there, would it be harmful to him if they do stay there? (They don't bother him when he eats at all.)

Please let me know. Thank you VERY much.

Answer
Hi Leah,

If you give your dog some hard chew toys and/or rawhide, it might help get rid of them.  Many times, though, they will have to be removed by your veterinarian.  You can have it done when you have his teeth cleaned down the road, or I guess you could just leave them.  It might cause dental problems though, which could cause gum disease and from there you could run into all kinds of problems.  The next time you visit your vet, let him take a look and see what he thinks.

God bless,
Becky
