Erection

Question
I have a yr old male Kane Korso, his stealth has been out for almost 36 hrs now. Doesnt seem to hurt or bug, he does everything he would normally do. I have called the Vet and they werent too helpful. And said "Time will tell" I didnt really understand? Do males go in heat also? Thanks :)

Thank you for writing to me about your Kane Korso.

I think you need to get a second opinion and fast!   

Check to see if the outer sheath had "rolled" into itself, preventing the penis from going back This is a very serious condition if not taken care of. If your dogs erection won't go down because it can't go down-and if its not corrected within an hour or so, permanent damage can start-so if you can't get it resolved, go to the vet right away!

You can try putting vaseline on the penis to see if it slides in on its own. You may have to pull (gently) the exterior skin to allow it to unroll, and give the penis the ability to slip back in place.

When an erection won't go down, it is a big problem that can result in the penis becoming necrotic and having to be amputated if not treated. In the meantime, until you can get him to the vet, keep Vaseline on his penis to keep it lubricated.
