Question
Hi,
We have a 2 year old doberman who is peeing on the furniture. My husband who he was close to has left. Maybe this is why. What can I do to stop him?

Answer
Hi Sheila;
Methinks he is establishing himself as the new head of the house.
He is marking his tewrritory.
If he is not neutered, do that right away. It will help to dominance some.
I use Simple Solution to clean up puppy accidents. It removes the odor so the dog can't smell it. I get it at Petsmart.
Scold him for doing it. Really chew his little butt out good, and put him in time out.
I use the small hall bathroom for time out.
I leave then there for about half an hour for the first 2 or 3 times they commit that offense, and if it doesn't stop, then I increase the time.
It is like sitting a child in the corner.
They know they have done wrong.
I would scold, grab the Simple Solution, let him watch me scrub what he did, and chewing him out and shaming him all the time, and telling him he has to go to time out.
I only use time out for capitol offenses, not just little no, no things they do.
If neutering, time out and chewing him out doesn't fix the problem, then check with Man's Best Friend about some more in-depth obedience training.
You might watch " The Dog Whisperer" and see if any of his videos are on that subject. I think you can order videos from his websire. His show should give a website or you cn probably find it in searching the web.
