Question
hello,
i have a 15mo. English mastiff who is about 150lbs. his belly is looking a little small and you can feel his ribs. i was wondering what he should be eating and if he weight is low for his breed and age. right now, he is eating 2 large scoops of adult dry food and 1 can of adult wet food. Is this enough? If not, what is the appropriate amount of food he should be eating?

Answer
He should eat as much as he wants, usually leave food down for about forty five minutes per day. I never have believed in measuring a dog's food unless they are overweight. And canned food is not good nutrtion unless it is from a premium company. It usually contains by products, which are made from 4 d meats. Dead, diseased, dying or downed animals. Yuck, and lots of water,
Put him a premium food,. no by products, corn wheat or soy. As much as he will eat in forty five minutes or until he loses interest twice per day. He will eat a lot at first, then level off. Forgo the canned food unless it is from a good company. Try Wellness,. Natural Balance, Flint River, Eagle Pack or something similar. the price will scare you at first if you are not feeding a premium food, but once he catches up he will actually eat less. And poop less due to the lack of fillers and undigestables in the food
Good luck
