Question
Hi there,
i have a pure breed female doberman named Lady. she is about 1 years old. i love her to death and she is so so spoiled! she is vary playful and energentic. i have two questions:

1) she is CONSTANTILY licking EVERYTHING in site....litterally. non-stop licking sofa, me, her self, toys, carpet, ect... why is she doing this? i am a little worried maybe she is not getting something this paticular breed requires. what can i do to get to stop licking everything and make her a happier puppy?

2) on the bottom of her leg she has a bump. the best way to describ this is it is red, raw, bleeds sometimes and almost like a calcium deposit where it is inside but you can feel underneath it as well. this worries me as she has not had any medical problems and it just appeared one day. i looked her over and found no more anywhere. what is this? is it seriouse?

please let me know.
thank you,
Tiff

Answer
Doberman licking and stress; canine rashes ;  hot spots in canine;
Anxiety in Canine;  Skin and coat problems in canine;

Hi Tiff and Lady ;  Well, the excessive licking is an OCD - obsessive compulsive habit.  I have written on this a few times.
When you catch her licking give her a toy to play with --- Get her doing someting else  :  See my post here on OCD

Valerian herbs and Excessive licking:

Next - the " bump " or lump may be a fatty deposit or hot spot.  Next time you see the VET have them take a skin scrape of the area.  It won't hurt or cost much for the vet to look at the cells under a scope.  They can also take a small tissue and send it off for culture..

Here is some help for skin that won't heal :
Colloidal Silver and NuVET Plus Supplements:

Please remeber that I am not a Vet:  ( just a pet nurse)

1.  Try some Colloidal Silver liquid:

- Oral dosage is one tablespoon taken 3 times daily.
Most users report noticeable improvement within two to three days, with the infection generally gone in five to seven days.
You can also place this silver on the spot every evening for 10 days. Give orally about 10 days or more :
This is not a drug.

Here is an example of what to look for in the local health or vitamin store:

2.  Please start this fur kid onto the NuVET Wafer program.

Give 1 1/2  per day long term.....VERY helpful for skin health and wellness - aides in the reduction of infections.
Only order here: not in stores:
