My Staff and Her Poo problem!

Question
I have 2 Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Rocky my male Staff was housetrained quickly and with not much fuss. Since getting my female Staff Roxy I find Poo and urine when I come downstairs in the morning. I let them both have run of the house and the back door is open all day until we go to bed. (This can sometimes be until 2 am) It never happens in the day even if the door is shut. Im not sure if she is afraid of bein left alone as she is no more than 1 1/2. If you could give me some advice it would be most appreciated. If not... Thank you for taking the time to read my question... Yours Thankfully :) Michelle + Rocky & Roxy

Answer
You say you find the mess when ou come downstairs in the morning, but do you know for sure which dog is making the mess?

If you do, then I have a suggestion for you to use with the one who is making the mess.  If you do NOT know, then I suggest you may need to do this with BOTH.

My suggestion is that you crate train the dog(s).  If you are opposed to that idea, then they should be at least confined to a specific area, whether it's a kitchen, laundry room, whatever.  If you are having a housebreaking problem, the dog (or dogs) that is not housebroken should not be having the run of the house.

I'm including some information on crate training and housebreaking that I hope will be helpful.
