training a 2 yr old adopted smooth fox terrier

Question
Hello!
We just adopted a smooth fox terrier female who has grown up with only woman (i think) and other dogs. She was only an inside dog but loved the local dog park. We were told she's never barked, howled, was pee pad trained and knew basic training.
Things are different than expected. She's attached to me but not my husband. A  little weary of him. She initially growled at him, and also growles at new people coming into the house. The first night we had her in bed with us, 2nd night in the bedroom but not allowed in the bed, 3rd night in a kennel with the door shut and outside of her room. She hated that! She wimperd, howeled, and barked. She doesn't listen to basic commands, and is hardly getting the pee-pad down pat. Puking, pooing and peeing on carpet in all different locations including her blankets. Now today my husband told me she howels for a long time when I leave.
HELP! I'm at a loss here.

Answer
Alyssa,
These dogs are HIGHLY emotional because they are soooo intelligent.  She is probably mourning her last owner.  I know one that got sick (vomiting, diarrhea etc,) when it changed hands. Another one had to go back to original owner because it literally starved itself to skin and bones.  Do you know the previous owner?
You need to spoil her a bit...Why did you put her out of the bed? She is very scared and afraid of losing you, too.  You will have to learn you did not adopt a dog but, a little human inside a dog body...and this is the first time I have ever said that on this site and I have been here for more than a year.
Now here is what you do.
I think her stomach is upset and that is why she is pooping everywhere and vomiting.  I would suggest you get something from the vet to calm her insides....Also  I would cook some rice for her and add it to her food (it will calm her digestive tract).  Feed her several small meals at a time for a few days.
Also, go to the pet store and get the plug in pheromone bottle.  Plug it in when you leave....Your husband needs to make friends with her....She will come to adore him, too....He needs to do all the feeding and treating and walking for awhile.  I would say about 3 weeks to break the ice....Maybe play ball or teach her a trick.
I have owned many dogs in my life time but none have been as loyal as the smooth fox terriers.  She is wary of new people because she is afraid they will take her away again.  I kid you not. I have experience with this breed....I want you to understand her....Look at things from her perspective.    Boston terriers are very similar in loyalty and get sick when they are given away.
Can you walk her frequently during the day for a little while?  It will distract her and also let her relieve herself....  If you have to crate her, keep the crate next to your bed, on your side.   You can also give her some pepto bismal as much as one tablet before you all go to bed.,
my phone number is 850 539 2292.  You may need to talk to me about this very special breed.  I will be home most of tomorrow.
