Question
i have a 1 yr old pitbull who just had her first litter. she was completely house broken before the arrival of the puppies but now she is going alot more frequently and often in the house in closed off areas that i cant see if i was to just turn my head. i want to know why she is going so frequently and i need to know how often should i be taking her out?

Answer
Dear Mason,

Thank you for writing to me about your pitbull puppy.  It seems that she may have hormonal problems or a uterine infection.  She needs to be seen by a vet.  If left untreated she can die from complications and it can also effect the puppies.

With all the pitbulls waiting on death row, is there some reason you are breeding?  For every puppy born there is one less home for a dog on death row.  Thousands are killed every year because they are one of the most difficult dogs to find homes for.  Please spay your dog.

Additionally, for every heat that your dog goes through, the chances for cancer are dramatically increased.  I am sure that you would want to prevent this.

You can get a spay discount certificat from Friends of Animals.

Best Regards,
