PLEASE GET BACK TO ME SOON I DON'T THINK SHE GOT THAT MUCH TIME LEFT MY DOG WAS TOOK TO VET TODAY SHE VERY SICK HE SAID THAT SALLY MY DOG HAS KIDNEY PROBLEM AND THAT THERE NOTHING THAT HE COULD DO IS THERE ANY HOPE ANYTHING ELSE I COULD DO BESIDE PRAY  PLEASE HELP I DON'T WANT TO PUT SALLY TO SLEEP BUT I WILL SINCE SHE SO SICK AND SO VERY OLD HAD HER OVER 15 YEARS NOW
Answer -
Hi, unfortunately once the kidneys go it is pretty much impossible to save the animal.  You can give the dog fluids through the vet, but once you stop the IV fluids, the animal goes down again real quickly because the kidneys are basically failing.  15 years is a good long life, and actually putting her out of her misery really is the nicest thing you can do for her.  Kidney failure is painful, and it would be better for her not to have to suffer through that pain.  You gave her a good life, and that is what you need to think about, that you love her enough now to make her ending peaceful.  I know it is hard, one of the hardest things in life to do, but it is also one of the most loyal and proof of how much you really do love her.  My condolences go out to you and give Sally a hug for me.

Hi, her eating a little more is just how it works with kidney failure.  It gets a little better for a very short time (like a day or two) and then it goes back down again.  You haven't done anything wrong, so don't feel guilty.  You gave her a good long life.  Like I said before, 15 years is great.  There is no pain for her.  Basically the medicine just relaxes the muscles and then she drifts off to sleep.  There is no pain and she doesn't even realize anything is happening.  Everybody wishes they could do more, you are not alone in this.  It is just her time.  Everyone has there time and hers is now.  You definitely want to take care of it before it does become painful for her.  You will always have the good memories.

Answer
Hi Bridget, Sorry I couldn't get back to you sooner.  What did you decide about yesterday?  I personally think from all the symptoms you are describing to me that her time has come and it is best for her to go on.  That's just my personal opinion, you have to make your own decision from your heart, which I'm sure you'll do at the right time.
