red irritated paw

Question
I saw an initial e-mail regarding the red irritated paw. Right now unfortunately we cannot go to the vet until two weeks from now that we are able to afford taking my 2 year old dog shepherd mix. His paw is red and irritated but he is able to still walk on it without any problems that I can notice. I have noticed it for a few days now and has not gone away. Please advice me what I can do in the mean time. What home remedies can I do. I try to clean his irritated paw all the time with water or baby wipes. Is that helpful? He is always licking his irritated paw. Thanks for the help!

Answer
Hello Rascel, In the mean time I would soak the paw in ebson salt to help with any infection and then follow up with an antibiotic cream.  Now they will say harmful if swollowed so try not to let him lick it off for at least 5 min.  Distract him with meal time or a treat, then wipe it off.  He might have stepped on something or have an ingrown hair causing this redness.  Good luck and I hope this helps, Thanks for asking, Cindy Lou :)
