Question
16 year old boarder collie x, he has always been a bit of a tender foot but now pink patches are begining to show through the black hard stuff on his paws, been to the vets he gave me some mikki dog boots rubbish, been using taped up socks on his feet which were better but not ideal, ive heard of these people that do human & dog runnig events (canninex?) & they wear boots but what type? i do make his walk as much grass as possible but it is not possible to make it all grass. please advise on boots & anything else.

Answer
Hi Tony,

There are other kinds of dog boots you can try, if the Mikki boots didin't work. The following boots are for hunting dogs, so they are tough:

There are also products such as "Tuf-Foot", which is applied to the pads to toughen a dog's soft, cracked, sore and tender feet. It also aids in protecting feet against bruises, blisters and soreness. TUF-FOOT's contains no harmful chemicals and is safe for your dog to lick his feet.

There's also a product called "Invisible Boot", which might be an option. Invisible Boot provides a barrier to shield the pads while soothing and moisturizing paw pads.

Hope that helps.
