dog breed question

Question
I have a dog that looks exactly like the dog pictured in the famous Norman Rockwell painting "A Lickin' Good Bath".

My question is, what breed of dog is that in the painting?

You can view the painting at

http://www.artselect.com/perl/frView?artID=41733&collectionID=2447

If you click on the "magnify" tab in the lower right hand corner of the image it will open a pop up window showing a much larger and clearer image of the painting.

Or I can send you an image I scanned in if you email me directly at marksmathers@yahoo.com

Thank you. Sincerely. Mark Smathers

Answer
Thank you for your question Mark.
I'm not too sure, but to me the dog looks like either a mutt of some sort, or a manchester terrier. I'm not too sure of when the painting was first painted, but from what I can tell it was early 90's. Their were alot of mutts around, as dogs were aloud to roam at will.

I'm sorry I could not help you more, but if your dog looks like that, you have quite a cute dog.
