Question
Hi, i got Tag when he was 3 months old, he is a border collie and aussie male. he has 80% border collie and 20% austrailin sheperd. i got him from a lady out in fernley, nv we live in Tahoe, ca, my mother said i got him from a back yard breeder, but the lady said this was her first litter. Tag has a eye problem, well his third eyelid is to big and i decided not to do surgery , he is now 6 months and the bigger he gets it looks like the eyelids might be getting  better..But my Real Question is: when he was about 4 months old his jaw and tongue started moving up and down uncontrolbly, and it only lasted 45 seconds. Then about 1 1/2 months ago, my father and i were at a puppie park throwing the frisbe around and he lives with a peer bread border collie named boone, but he started doing the jaw thing and then his head truned upword to the side, and that lasted about a minute. everytime this had happen i try rubbing around his jaw, i thought it might of been excitment and developmening ,but my father said it looked like a seizure. then Today he did it again no head turning but the jaw and tonge went, didn't last 20 seconds... my  father use to train animals for sesame street, but he don't know anything about seizure and all the websites i have looked at it's all on eplaspy and i had a black lab when i was little and he had that,  we knew what to do, i want to know if you have everherd of something like this or have any websites i can go to,,,, thank you so much for your time!

Answer
Hi Samantha, It does sound like a seizure possibly brought out when he gets overstimulated.  Border Collies & Aussies are both high-strung breeds, so their brains are on overdrive most of the time anyway.  Just like epilepsy, a seizure can be triggered by something and with those breeds excitability can possibly trigger them.  I would check out sites on Aussies & Border Collies for seizure disorders.  Hope this helps,
