Question
QUESTION: i am looking after my daughters yorkie terrier, she is 10 months old and may be coming into her first season. As i have only had males i don't know a thing about seasons please can you advise on when, how often thankyou

ANSWER: Hi Lyn;
Yep, you are right.
Their first season is usually around 8 months give ior take a couple, so she is just right oin time, and if your males are not neutered, and she is not spayed, ou have a problem.
nless these dogs are from bloodlines that it would improve the breed to breed them, I strongly suggest neutering the males and spaying the female, for their own health sake.
Spayed females do not get breast cancer, and several other diseases, when they get older. It saves a lot of expensive veterinary bills down the line, and helps them live longer lives.
Neutering male dogs prevents their having Prostate cancer, and some other things, and also helps them live longer lives.

It is NOT healthier for them to have one or two seasons first. In fact, it is much better to have them spayed and neutered before they reach sexual maturity.

QUESTION: is there a spray or something i can buy to deter my male dog he is going crazy for the female and she is too young,

Answer
There is no spray strong enough to cover up the odor so he can't smell it.
You are trying to fight mother nature, and it won't work.
The only thing you can do is keep them separated, and it has to be strong barriers, because the motivation to get to her is stronger than his love of life.
It would be advisable to have her spayed. Actually, he should be neutered too.
In your first question you asked how often, and I didn't answer that.
They will have 2 seasons per year. so about 6 months after this season ends, she will have another.
You could board one of them to keep them apart.
Ask your Veterinarian about boarding facilities in your area.
Your Veterinarian may very well board during seasons too.
