Question
Hello
I have had Dogs all my life at the age of 56  I have a One year old Brittany   That won't leave the house cat alone  Even if she gets bit by him its a big male cat of 17 pounds too  Dee clawed     This Dog  is still very active too    Plus she poddy/s outside on the Drive way by the back Door  Which I CAN'T BREAK  her of   .  I always had good luck with my Dogs   I HAD A SPRINGER FOR 14 YEARS BEFORE THIS ONE THAT WAS A REAL SWEET dog
Any Ideas?
                John

Answer
Well John,
sounds like she needs some tiring out and exercise.  Get a back pack for her that you can put some water bottles in, not too many. and take her for a couple of mile walks.  She is bored, she needs to hunt, why not join a search and rescue group, they are all over, you will love it.  When you walk her, however, she must be right by your side and not sniff or stray away.  This puts a strain on her and it also puts you in charge.   Hopefully, the outings will keep her more satisfied and also you will be more in charge to tell her "no"  when she goes after the cat.   The drive way can be handled within the same time frame.  After her walk, take the pack off and let her run outside.  Stay there with her and correct her if she goes to use the bathroom there.  Also putting in an underground electric fence around the driveway is the easiest fix.  Also a remote trainer.  You can hide in the house and give her the tone first and then a light shock when she steps there.
good luck
