Question
I AM DEVELOPING A DOG PARK IN OUR COMMUNITY. ARE THERE ANY ISSUES OR CONCERNS REGARDING USING A VINYL COATED CHAIN LINK FENCE OVER JUST A REGULAR CHAIN LINK FENCE?  OUR BOARD THINKS THE GREEN VINYL FENCING WILL LOOK NICER AND BLEND INTO THE SURROUNDING AREA NOT IMPACTING OTHER RESIDENCES. WOULD THERE BE AN NEGATIVE TOWARDS THE DOGS USING THE PARK?

Answer

Hi John,

I know of no problems associated with vinyl coated fencing. The coated fencing is more expensive than the uncoated, but if the aesthetics of having the fence be a color is important for you, then that's all the reason you need to choose the vinyl coated version.

Another option would be to go with the uncoated fence, and plant some kind of carefree shrub or ornamental grasses on the outside of the fenced area. Plants are going to look better than even a colored fence, as far as aesthetics go.

The Dog Park in Highland Park in Roanoke, VA uses vinyl coated wire fencing (their's is black). If you'd like to contact them, to hear how that fence is working out, you can contact them here:

Best of luck,
