dog in the way

Question
I have a 2 yr old mixed breed, prob. lab/setter.  He is very sweet and starting to calm down a little, but he is always "underfoot".  He walks right in front of people and they frequently trip.  How can I train him to walk beside, behind, or just a reasonable distance so I will not keep tripping over him?

Anyways what you can do is train him sit sit beside people rather then stand in front of them-if you need more help with training him,it won't hurt to look for a dog trainer,or even pick up some dog training books from the libary
