9 week old yorkie puppy - male

Question
I just purchased a 9 week yorky puppy for my daughter.  He is very play ful but will not eat.  We are now feeding him by syringe per the vetinary, giving him vitamins etc.  He became hypoglycemic and could have died because he was not getting enough to eat.  The breeder told me to try scrambled eggs and shredded chicken breast.  I do notwant him to get hooked on this food.  I did get him to eat purina puppy hard food one time only and now he will not even touch.  I am worried and wonder if you know any thing I could do so that I am not feeding him by syringe his entire life.  We love him he is so playful but not sure how to handle this.  We have two poodles 8 and 9 years old and they never did this.

Thank you

Answer
What you can do is to use some gravy they Iams makes for dogs,or use some canned food and mix it into the dry food, that way it isn't that much different from dog food

This is common in a lot of young puppies and they grow out of it,but some dogs will make a game out of later in life,by not eating for a couple days in hopes of getting something better, when he gets older and he tries this game, don't give in to him, just put the food down and ignore him, even a couple days without eating won't hurt him,and it will teach him he can't always have his way,he will get hungry and eat it

But because he is very young, you do just want him to eat more then anything right now,so you can try the eggs and chicken, also hotdogs chopped up small works
