Question
I have a male Miniature Pinscher who is about 1 1/2 yrs old. I also have a female cat who is about 7. My dog tries to mount the cat & hump her. (The cat is fixed but the dog is not)The cat of course claws & growls at him but he keeps coming back for more. Why does he do this & how can I get him to stop? Its rather annoying to deal with every single day, all day long! Will getting the dog fixed stop this behavior?

Answer
Dogs hump to demonstrate their dominance to another creature... another dog, people, or a cat. Neutering him might help, but most likely it won't.

I would fill a pop can with a few pennies, and everytime he goes to pester the cat, shake it loudly and tell him to "KNOCK IT OFF!". It might work better if you throw the can near him (as you holler), but then it will terrorize the cat, and she doesn't deserve that. (Although it might teach her to stay away from him.)

Start practicing "Nothing in Life is Free" with him. http://k9deb.com/nilif.htm  A few obedience classes wouldn't hurt either.
