My ShiTzu has a strange eating habit

I was wondering if you could help me. My 3 year old male ShiTzu has a strange eating appearance. When he is trying to eat from his bowl he sort of swings his head back and forth from his bowl and then to the side of it sort of like he is trying to throw water in his food dish! To be honest it kind of looks as if maybe the hair on his face gets on his nerves when he is trying to eat??. He has been doing this pretty much his whole life. I don't know what to make of this.

Well if you have the face hair shaved off one time, you will be able to tell.  I shave them all the time for people who say their dogs have trouble eating.   Also, check his teeth to make sure there is nothing wrong with them.    Check for hair around the teeth and loose teeth.
