Question
My dog is 6 years old and is potty trained, now all of a sudden he can't hold his pee and sometimes pees in the house.  Today I noticed when he went outside once he was done peeing he squatted again and blood came out....Could this be the signs of a UTI...I have antibiotics and he has been taking them as he should, would this help bring on the UTI or would it help fight the UTI?

Answer
I have no vet training, but in general, you should never give your animal (or person for that matter), antibiotics that have not specifically been prescribed for that particular ailment.  If your dog does have a bladder infection, it may or may not be susceptible to the antibiotic you're giving him.  If he has an infection and you're giving him an antibiotic that is not fighting it, but is destroying other bacteria, you could be allowing the infection to grow much stronger thereby making it harder to cure further down line.

Take your dog to the vet.  Blood in urine is never a good thing.  Your vet can tap your dog's bladder and see what's going on.

Good luck.
