Answer
Hi Crazys888s,

Cysts generally are an indication that the body is trying to expel toxins that are located deeper within.

If the cysts are 'jelly like' then I am assuming they are soft. It is quite conceivable that they can simply be expressed with a needle to release the fluids.  They can then examine the fluid in the laboratory to check for any irregular cells.

Since cysts are often a sign of an internal imbalance, I would recommend the following:

~Feed a natural, human grade dog food such as Wellness, Solid Gold, Wellness, Biljack, Paul Newman, Flint River, Avoderm etc.  I would go for a fish and potato mix since allergies may be involved in your dog's skin condition. Beef is a big allergen so make sure that beef as well as wheat are not part of the listed ingredients. Make sure that his water is filtered.

~Give aloe vera juice+liquid chlorophyll to remove toxins from the body. Use the gel externally on the sores.  Add kelp to your dog's diet. You can add 3 drops of liquid kelp daily to the food.

~Consider adding the following vitamins:
-Ester C
-20mg of zinc daily (an important vitamin for skin healing)
-Calcium/magnesium in the tablet form w/ Vit C
-Vit A twice weekly for a couple weeks
-Vit E is crucial, and can also be used externally as a salve. Spring for the good Health-food store E, not the grocery store kind- it's usually the 'wrong' type.
-supplement w/ brewer's yeast, or give 10-20mg of yeast-free B-complex daily.

~Herbs:
-6 drops a day of licorice root tincture.
-echinacea and goldenseal, one week on and one week off.   -

~Homeopathic Remedies:
Silica and Ars.   After 24 hours on these (2 doses of Ars, 1 of Sili) continue dosing in 'decreasing frequency' for about 3 weeks.  If you need something stronger, start on silica in cell salt potency (6x) twice daily, then once a day.

~Blood Root Paste is amazing for Sebaceous Cysts. This is my most important recommendation.  It is sold by Alpha Omega Labs.  They also make Cansema for skin cancers. If you are familiar with Dr. Andrew Weil you will have undoubtedly read about this salve already. You may want to visit Alpha Omega's website and read the testimonies from folks who have used it on dogs and cats. I know several people who use it on themselves and  their pets.   The salve is $9.95 whereas the cancer salve---Cansema is about $50. Here is the addy:  http://herbhealers.com/index.htm

Good luck with your dog.  Not to worry as these cysts are likely not to be more than an annoyance but they do indicate that your dog's overall diet needs fine tuning.
