New puppy on pension due to owners vacation.

Question
Hi,

I'm really distressed because on a few days I will have to leave my australian
cattle dog puppy on a pension. The place is very good. I trust the owner and
the trainers who will take him out  on their very spatious premises and
continue his training, etc. What worries me is the fact that "Ashok" (that's the
puppy) just arrived with us a month ago and he will spend 5 weeks at the
pension, (the trip to Europe was planned a year ago and there's no one close
to us who can take him).  He's 6 months old and spent his prior life at one of
my aunts backyards. Due to late vaccination, we haven't been able to take
him out on walks this month he's been with us, but our house is big, he's
totally housebroken now, and he's a sweet temperate, intelligent and
obedient dog. So, my question is: will he get utterly depressed in this place
though he's well taken care of? will he remember me and my husband when
he comes back (this is my main concern because we really love him)? will he
remember the house rules he's so well acquainted with now? will our
relationship and the personality he has developed because of it vanish due to
our abscence?
I truly appreciate your work and would be very thankful if you could put my
mind at rest.

Answer
We sometimes keep puppies for friends or even have to leave our puppies with someone at times.  Puppies that have spent a week or less with us, will remember us if we don't see them for a month or 2.  I am sure your puppy will be overjoyed when you return.  It may take some reminders on the rules, but should quickly get back to task.
