QuestionI went to take my Pomeranian to the groomers that I usually do,but this is a different person.I said to give her a trim and wash. When we went to pick her up she was shaved.I didn't brush her as much as I used to because of moving. Is it my fault she is shaved like this?
AnswerI work with a groomer(I'm not a groomer myself),and sometimes if a dog VERY heavily matted,we don't have a choice but to shave the dog
However if we are able to brush it out,we will and we will tell the owner to come in more often, unless requested we only shave a dog down as a last resort esp a breed like a pom
And some groomers are 'clipper happy' or are new at it,and instead of dematting they shave the dog
Unless your dog was a matted mess,I don't think it was your fault,I would call up your regular groomer and tell her how unhappy you were with the last groom and see if you can get a rebate the next time you go in-but if it does turn out the dog had any matting, you might want to bring the dog in more often about once a month or so to get on top of it so it doesn't happen again
