Protruding Penis

Question
Karen, I don't have a question.  I really just wanted to thank you.  My Yorkie's penis hangs out all the time and gets dry and irritated.  I've seen the Vet more than once for this problem and he has no idea what the cause is.  He has me lubricating the area, which doesn't help. It's been especially bad lately and I sat down today and googled the problem.  I found a question about a poodle with the same problem and you talked about the hair and inverted sheath. I followed your instructions and you were exactly right!  The hair was all tangled up inside and once I pulled everything out, I was able to bring the sheath down.  I am so relieved and Rudy is going to be a lot more comfortable from now on.  Once again, thanks a million.  You're advice has really made a difference!

Answer
I'm glad to hear that my comments were useful to you and Rudy. Just be sure that you keep the hair short around the end of the sheath. You might want to buy an inexpensive pair of clippers like this pair of Wahl's: http://grooming.petedge.com/Wahl-Pocket-Pro-Cordless-Trimmer-WA99613.pro?parentC... They aren't good for much, but would work fine for this.
