Max the naughty dog

Question
Max is a daschund/terrier mix, he's a pound dog. We got him when he was 2 months old and we've had him for 8 months. He lives in our apartment with my wife and I and for the most part is a good boy.

HOWEVER... he potty's outside only 90% of the time. 3 or 4 times a week he does his business inside.

2 nights ago, my wife and I took some alone time, only an hour, we came back out, he was mad, so he pooped on the carpet.

This morning at 7:30, I'm getting his leash and putting on my shoes, and he pees on my shoes.

I just don't get it. We usually bring him to the spot, show it to him, and say "no" or "bad dog." This morning, I took him out, brought him back in, put him in his kennel, and cleaned up the damn mess.

He runs away and hides after he does an "inside potty," so he obviously knows it's bad. How can I help him get it? My wife and I work different shifts, so there is almost always someone home with him. We take him outside whenever he asks, like 5 times a day at least. Is he too spoiled? Is he just stupid? Help us?

Answer
sorry it took a while-I was busy with the holidays

Anyways when a dog does it's bussiness inside you have to catch them in the act when you scould them,or else they won't get it-dogs are not smart enough to figure out why you are mad at them 2 hours or whatever after the fact

Now peeing on your shoes is often a submisive behavour, and if you are going out for the day,try taking him out for a bout fifteen minutes before going out,to make sure he does everything

Another thing to consider is try calling around(or even asking the vet)and talking to a dog trainer,as they may find a solution to this annoying problem
