9 month old Bulldog that isnt geeting potty trained

Question
Hello, I hope this works and I am willing to try anything.  I bought a english bulldog from a breeder 3 months ago.  She is now 9 months old.  My girlfriend and I are having a diffiuclut time trying to house/crate train our dog.  We maintain a very regular schedule of feeding and exercise for her. I bring her out first thing in the morning 545am and then before I leave at 7am  She pees both times.  I come home at 11take her out and spend time with her and then take her out again 330.  After 330 and before I go to bed at 10pm I take her out a minimum of 4 times.  at bedtime The dog eliminates immediatly before she goes in the crate and lights are turned off.  she seemed to do really well for a while only peeing in the crate once a week, but it has slowly turned into a regular problem.  We figure maybe since we got her as an older puppy she spent her early years peeing in a crate with no punishment so she thinks its ok.  So we tried letting her have the house and that failed miserably.  The past two nights we removed the grate from the crate so she is sleeping directly on the plastic tray.  We hoped this would make her sleep in her own pee and then deter her form peeing again, but the problem has continued.  She has gone to the vet and does not have a bladder infection.  I Know she can hold it cause she does only pees 50% of the time (night or day).  What else can I do?

You're probably right. What I would do would be to pick up her water dish by 8:00pm. Then, if it's not already in there, move the crate to your bedroom so that she will (hopefully) wake you up stirring around if she has to go to the bathroom during the night, so that you can take her out. Of course, just two nights without the grate in the crate is not long enough to make a difference, but I would suggest leaving the grate out. She is plenty old enough to be able to go all night without a potty break, as long as you allow her to empty herself before bedtime.

You might also consider getting an x-pen and using it as described at http://housetraining.angelfire.com
