I think my dog is in labor

Question
Well this morning when i woke up my dog was in her whelping box and she's usually been sleeping in my bed for the past month, and didnt even notice her box. I noticed her shaking, and the blakets all fluffed up. I hurried and took her temperature and it read 98.4 which i have been talking her temp. everyday for 3 weeks and it was always in the high 99-100's. Now she's laying on the couch and can not seem to get comfortable, she did start panting, but stopped, still shaking and everytime i say "kia, gonna have babies?" she shakes extremely. The shaking started late this morning- 2-3am. I'm pretty sure she's i the beginning stage of labor and I know heavy labor should start 24 hours or less. Does that sound right?

Answer
Ashley-

Yep! Sounds like stage 1. Watch that shaking, she should start contractions soon. It will look like shuddering down the side and she will stop panting and almost seem to stop breathing for a moment as she bears down. Heavy Labor should be within 12 hours of Stage 1. And remember heavy pushing for more then 2 hours means VET ASAP!

Good luck!! Yaaaay for new babies!
