SHIH TZU IN HEAT

I RECENTLY HAD TO PUT MY 8YR OLD LHASA DOWN SHE HAD DIABETES THAT COULD NOT BE REGULATED, WENT TOTALLY BLIND AND WAS URINATING THROUGHOUT THE HOUSE. THIS ALL STARTED IN JULY. I ALSO HAVE A SHIH TZU 5YR OLD THATS IN HEAT. I PUT THE LHASA DOWN FRIDAY AND WENT AND GOT A PUPPY TO HELP ME ACCEPT THE LOSS. I GOT A 11 WEEK OLD SHIH TZU. MY 5 YR OLD WON'T EVEN LOOK AT HER. SHE RUNS AWAY FROM HER. THEY ARE BOTH FEMALES. DOES THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT SHE IS IN HEAT????

No it doesn't. Your dog is still grieving. Imagine this, your spouse dies, and someone brings home another one for you and insists you accept them. It takes them some time especially when they have been companions for so long. IT doesn't matter what sex they were, they were best buds. Give her some time, and extra attention. Make sure she knows that even though there is an annoying, fuzzy , friendly little furball running around you still love her. She'll soon come around and be best buds with your new puppy.
