tick prevention & pregnant canine

I have a pregnant golden retriever, live in the northwoods of Wisconsin.  what is safe to use for flea and especially tick prevention.

I would not recomend changing the prevention used in the past. consulting your vet would be advisable also since the wisconsin flea and tick season is just beginning. A natural insect deterent is cedar chips, but they can be harmfull to small animals or very young puppies, as with most insecticides.
