Skin and Coat Problems

Question
I have 2 2yr old cockapoos. I am having a very difficult time with their skin and coat. Their coat is very dry and brittle and their skin is always flaky and they are always scratching. I am certain that they do not have fleas or ticks. Currently, they are eating Purina Dog Chow and I have been putting vegetable oil in the food (advice I'd gotten from a friend) however the problem has not changed. I may have caused the problem because when they were puppies I bathed them every 2 weeks faithfully and most times with flea and tick shampoo (just to be safe) until I found out from another pet owner that the OTC flea and tick shampoo is too harsh for their skin. Since then, I don't bathe them as often and at they are professionally groomed 1x every 3 months but their skin and coat remains the same. What, if anything, can I do to fix this problem.

Answer
Hi Ayonnah,

The food may very well be the problem and putting vegetable oil on the food is not recommended.  Yes, oil is talked about in the aid skin and coat issues, but it's fish oil (omega 3 fish oil).

You can easily fix the problem by switching to a healthier food, the one I use and recommenced is Life's Abundance for which I am a national field rep.  Please check out the video at www.pipschoice.com and do the food comparison to your food.

Next, all dogs no matter what they are eating should be on a immune system builder.  There is only one I can say is a must for proper health and that is NuVet Plus.  It is not sold in stores but can be purchased by calling 1-800-474-7044 and using order code 42299.
The website is www.nuvet.com/42299 They guarantee if you don't see the results you are hoping for they will refund your money.

The dry skin is nothing you did.  If fact, bathing often is good, just remember to use a good shampoo like oatmeal and rinse very well.

Let me know how they do with the changes.
