separation of 2 dogs

Question
we have recently had to separate our 2 dogs (been together 4 years). the remaining dog will soon be moving to a new home (condo). He is clearly showing signs of loneliness and keeps looking for his mate - he panics if he thinks we are leaving the house. He is alone most of the day. When he moves to his new home he will be living with me alone instead of 4 other family members - this move is due to a change in living arrangements of my parents - we had 2 dogs when we all lived at home - one was theirs and one was mine...mine is the one that is still there, he is the submissive dog of the 2...the female (the one given away) basically told him how and when he could do anything. How do we deal with this and what should we expect?

Answer
Certainly this is going to be tough for him.  If you can't make it home to give him a mid day break, could a neighbor or a professional dog walker?  The ultimate is doggy day care where he spends the day in the supervised company of other dogs.
The Humane Society of the United States, based upon the sickening information contained in the indictment, is requesting all people to send a message to NFL commissioner Roger Goodall requesting he suspend Michael Vick immediately.  They are citing other sports figures who were suspended when indicted for crimes.  Their point is that it is apparent , based on testimony of others involved, that Vick not only knew about it, but ordered the inhumane executions of the dogs and nothing in the past with other suspensions, has compared to this level of abuse.  Here is the info in case anyone in interested: [url=http://www.hsus.org/hsus_field/animal_fighting_the_final_round/recent_activities/vick_indicted.html]Atlanta
