chihuahua testicle

QUESTION: kristen im elderly and cant afford vets but this chi is so dear to me i would borrow the money if you cant help me..he acts in such a way sometimes like something is sticking him in testicles and he licks them frequently( i prefer not to spay him) he is not around female dogs he has had all the required shots at the vet ( i forgot all of them) and whatever he needed at his age. he is 5 lb male. what are your thoughts please....thank you

ANSWER: First, Lee, male dogs aren't spayed; they are neutered. ;^)

Secondly, you didn't say how old the dog is. I need to know his age, because there are certain diseases and things that are age-related.

QUESTION: this  chi is  1 and half year old..i dont know if this has anything to do with anything but a week ago he was stung by a hornet and i gave him a half of 25 mg benadryl and put baking soda paste on it the best i could on his coat..a smooth fur...he was very restless for 2 hrs but then was ok.

Where was he stung? He might still be itchy from that. Since dogs cannot scratch their testicles like people can, they must instead lick them if they itch.

Are you positive he's licking his testicles and not his anus, belly, inner thigh, or prepuce (the skin that covers the penis)? Does the area appear red, inflamed, or otherwise irritated? Have you checked to see if there is anything in between the testicles that might be causing irritation?

How long has he been displaying this behavior?
