Question
Hi Amanda, I have a one and a half yr old golden retriever. Hes male, called Harvey. Ive notice over the last couple of weeks, two little white spots on him. One on his side and one nearer his back. They look like human whiteheads but they dont pop. He does'nt scratch them but when I am at it, hes very aware. He has been neutered and is up to date with all his vaccinations. Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks, Erica Tobin.

Answer
Most likely it is a sebaceous cyst.  They're pretty normal, and they may eventually burst on their own.  I wouldn't mess with them since they can some times rupture internally, in which case he would need antibiotics.  If they do rupture you can put a triple antibiotic ointment on them.  Sometimes they will go away on their own, but sometimes they have to be surgically removed.  If they become inflamed, or increase significantly in size, or start to become uncomfortable for Harvey I would take him to the vet to be looked at.
