Excessive itching in out older dog

Hi, First, I would like to say how much I appreciate this website! It is so helpful! Second, I was wondering why our 14 year old dog is itching excessivley? He scratches around his underside and in between his legs alot. Nothing has changed in his diet or his sleeping area. What could this be and is this common in older dogs? Other than this, he is strong and healthy. Well, I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!                                  Hannah

He probably developed some type of airborne allergy,thats usually where it affects them

What you can do is just call up your vet and find out whst over the counter allergy medications you can use,as there is a number of human allergy pills dogs can use
