Puppy going into heat

Question
I have a medium sized pup that I think is around 6 months old, she was a stray so I don't know for sure her age. anyway I have called the local low cost spay neuter clinic and they wont spay her until she is out of heat. I also have a un neutered male brindle pit/lab mix dog, (Big Dog) my question is, if my dogs get "together" is he going to be able to mate with her, or is my husband correct when he says shes going to be able to hold him when it comes to that point, were all for letting her have 1 litter, because we both think it makes females better dogs after letting them become mommies, but I don't want her getting hurt in the process either.

Answer
Hello, First let me say why breed mutts? check yuor locle newspapers/ free ads online ands and locle shelters and pounds whats there mutts all sorts and sizes breeding mutts is NEVER a good idea so for goodness sakes keep the dogs seperate or you can easily go get the male Neutered thou teh female still must be spayed after her heat cycle, they will be able to mate just fine. I have two bitch dogs my freind has one and my mother has two all are SPAYED only one of those has had a litter of puppies(Not mine by the way) and all the dogs are fine healthy happy dogs that just love life theres no ened to let them have a litter honeslty its very hard to find homes for mutt pups and they often get shooved into shelters because they aren't what they expected(wanted a pure dog...got too big stayed to small "is just a mutt" ect ect) Also a bitch must never ever be bred on her first cycle a larger dog needs to be 2 years old one her third or fourth cycle a smaller dog(20 pounds or under) can be bred at 1 or 1 1/2 which would be on the third or four cycle as well since smaller dogs cycle more often.
