Hello, my dog louie will be three this year, for the last year he has had itchy eyes. he tends to do this first thing in the morning when he wakes up, he rubs them on doors table legs but after a while he stops and and is fine for rest of the day.          A couple of times when he has rub them on table legs he hurts them and his eye close's up, i take him to the vets where they put die in to see if he has anything in his eye but all clear, i get drops for his eyes and they clear it up but after a few days the itchy eye starts again, every time we go to the vets because his eye has closed up again, we go through the same thing, but this does not happen to often with his eye being closed,the big problem is the eyes being itchy that never seems to go away, he gets clipped every six weeks, he is a big framed dog ,weight around 12 pounds, if you could give me any information about what i need to do, he has Cesar dog food, chicken, liver. many thanks.

Hi Susan - sounds like Environmental allergies -  Can you buy some eye wash - use it every morning - it's just a normal saline -- squirt in his eyes and then pad dry with a 100% cotton baby wash cloth.
