My adopted APBT Sabre

Question
Hello...I recently adopted Sabre my new APBT who is 4yrs old, the breeder I got her from took her back from the original owner who could not keep her anymore and she needed a good home. From what I understand she has had 2 or more litters in her 4 years, maybe more. The breeder I adopted her from wants to breed her again when her next heat comes but hopefully by then I can have her spayed! She's a loving dog who needs to retire in a loving home! My question is how many times is too many to breed a dam and does spaying give them chance at longer life span? Thank you from Sabre and over bred APBT everywhere!

Answer
Hi Leeann

I love the APBT! And good for you for taking this one into your home and heart. But honest to God, you have recently adopted this female.  Do the right thing and have her spayed and let her live out her life as a beloved pet, that's what she deserves.  2 or more litters in 4 years is more than enough.

Spaying her will lower her chances of cancer, keep her close to home and allow her a peaceful life.

Good luck!
