Ties per day?

Question
We are breeding our 4yr old female to a 3 yr old
1st time stud.
We have the stud here till Monday and hes already
tied twice with her (first one planned, 2nd one 2 hours later and unplanned, he was too quick even while on leash)
Just wonder if it was safe for her?
and what the normal limit of ties per day was?
Everything I've been told and read says 2 ties being 2 days apart....
Also was wondering as she is letting him mount already
(fisrt sign of heat was the 17th but could have started
a day or 2 before as we were not home) but going by the 17th today (25th) would be day 9 (she just started showing signs of flagging) Would it be a safe bet if we were to get another tie done tommorrow (Jan 26th) that we'll have our litter and be able to take the male home early?

Also we have a 2yr old female, that isnt in heat
(at least not showing any signs of a heat) that the stud
keeps trying to mount, she seems to be going out of her way
to stick her little butt in his face, are there any risk
of an unplanned litter from her if he gets her?
(we will be breeding her (2yr old) but not until next winter)

Thanks

Answer
HI Mel. The best that I can tell you is that most people breed on days 11 and 13, or on days 12 and 14 of the heat cycle. Two ties are all that is usually needed, anymore than that is overkill. You'll have too many due dates, and maybe even premature puppies. Two ties on the same day won't really hurt anything. It may wear the dogs out, and cause the male to have a lower sperm count. I would try to not let that happen anymore. I would try for day 11 if you want this girl bred, just to be on the safe side. Monday will be day 11, correct?

If you don't want your two year old to have a litter, then keep them apart just in case she's having a dry, or silent heat. Some dogs go into heat, but don't show any signs of it. Also, sometimes, when one dogs goes into heat, she brings another female into heat with her. Be careful. Your best bet would be to just keep them completely seperated. Good luck, and if I can help with anything else, let me know!
