Border Collie/Lab Mix

Question
Hi, my friends dog has just had a litter of pups and I am
planning to give one of them a home in august. The mother is
half lab, half border collie and the father is full border
collie. I would just like to know if, as she will be 3/4
border collie, her temperament and such will be overall
border collie. I would like to know as I only have
experience with a golden retriever, who sadly passed away a
few months ago. Any information would be gratefully
received. Many thanks.
Leigh.

Answer
Hi. That's the thing about mixes, you really can't be sure which breed they're going to take after. I'm not knocking mixes ay all, one of my favorite dogs was a mix, just saying that it's hard to know for sure what the dog is going to be like. You're going to have a dog that is mixed with two different breeds that needs a job to do. It's really important that you keep that in mind. Keep plenty of safe toys around for him, and consider trying your luck at obedience or agility. This will give the dog a job, keep him happy, and keep you sane. You may want to try to find a dog club in your area. I honestly don't know much about BC, just that they are usually really good at obedience and agility, even herding. I would try to find something like that in my area and work with his natural skills. If I can help with anything at all, let me know.
