Question
Renee,
I was reading the board this morning and noticed one of the experts said to start getting your supplies ready for the delivery. I have a pregnant Mini Dachshund, she is due anytime from Jan 9th-12th. What supplies or materials should I have readily available during delivery? Thanks...Jared

Answer
Hi Jared! I am going to give you a really good web site that has a detailed list of what you need.

http://www.phi-vestavia.com/whelplist.htm   You don't absolutely have to have the stethoscope. The lactaded ringer solution is good to have if you can get it, and if you know how to use it. The rest of it is pretty good. Try to get as much on this list as you can. Absolute have to's: bulb syring (to clean out puppy's nose), pads (you can buy these at Wal-Mart. Great to keep area clean and dry between whewlping. You can find them where they keep the adult diapers), thermometer, plenty of towels to dry puppies, and wash clothes to keep mom clean. Dental floss, and iodine. If you can get the rest of it, that would be better, but not a have to. This web site will tell you what each item is needed for. Good luck!
