Question
I took my  rough collie to the groomer for her yearly bath yesterday and she convinced me to let her clip her.  Well, she was shaved!  I wish I hadn't done it because her coat was beautiful, not matted, but the groomer told me she would be cooler.  She is a house dog anyway.  Too late now but I am concerned about it growing back well.  Any advice on diet, nutrition or anything else to help it grow quickly and beautifully?  Thank you, Ann

Answer
I am so sorry that happened to you!  Mis-communication is a horrible thing! The good news is it will grow back.  I feed my own dogs Blue Buffalo and have also heard a lot of positive things about EVO and Solid Gold.  If you can find a specialty pet store in your area they almost always have a good selection of holistic, all natural foods to choose from.  Ask them to help you select one appropriate for your dog's age, energy, etc that will also be good for her coat.  They may also have some supplements to help too.  I'd stay away from the big chain stores for initial food selection because they often don't know exactly what they're selling.  A smaller shop is likely to have better quality food and more knowledge of their product.  You can also research the three I mentioned online and have an idea of what you're looking for when you go in.  You're right to look at nutrition, it's the best way I know of to ensure a healthy coat.  I wish you and your new buzz girl the best!
