Question
I'm a groomer and I've always had my blades professional sharpened.  Have you
ever sharpened your own clipper blades?   I not sure if I should invest in a
sharpening tool.  Your advice?
thanks

Answer
Hi fellow groomer!
A dozen answers come to mind....
No I haven't sharpened my own, yes I think about doing it all the time
Why not?
Because usually they need rebalancing  as well as sharpening, tightening whatever which makes me feel insecure because I don't have the tools or expertise to know the dif.
I have always shipped them back to Oster to have them done but I am not always happy with the results.
Recently I started using Buttercuts, which are, in my opinion, the same. Really. No dif. After talking me into buying a set at a groom expo, I asked  the owner of the company what to do about sharpening and he said- get this- toss 'em and buy new ones- once they are shot they are shot. Ha! Guess who wins on that one???
I, personally don't have all that much time either to sit and do this so for the 3-4$ Oster charges, it is no big deal or Laube or Andis whoever you use. On the other hand, I wish I did. I do my own knives! Maybe I am just lazy.
If you ask any of these companies that advertise doing it they will tell you not to. So on the flip side the company you bought them from can deny responsibility for poor quality if you do it yourself claiming you did damage.
Sorry I can't be more definitive about this but since you are a groomer, have you ever used this site"
