Question
My dog won't get into the bathtub.  I try to get her in with treats, but she knows what I'm trying to do so she still won't get in.  If I do get her in, she'll jump out.  What can I do about this?

Answer
Hello,
Sorry to hear you're having such a hard time. Without knowing what size your dog is I can only give a couple of
suggestions.
 1) If your dog is small to med. size you can always get in the tub with your dog . This will show the dog there is nothing to fear from getting in. It's up to you whether you
stay in for the whole bath or not.

 2) Or you can do like we groomers do, use a suction cup
eyelet with a lead. When using this method place the lead
around the dogs neck before putting them in the tub. Hook the lead to the suction eyelet as soon as you get the dog into the tub. You want the lead to be snug but not tight.
You should be able to fit two fingers in it.
Just keep in mind that you might not be able to do it by your self. If possible have someone help you. One can hold while the other washes.
Be firm with your voice commands but not threatening. You
don't want to traumatize the dog. He/she may already be afraid of water and you wouldn't want to double his/her fears.
I hope I have been of some help. If you aren't successful then you might want to just bring the dog to a groomer in your area to save you the trouble.
Good luck and God bless !
