Question
Can I bathe a 1 month old chihuahua?

Answer

Very young puppies don't generally get very dirty, and it's best not to bathe them before they're 7 - 8 weeks old if possible. They don't regulate their body temperature very well, and they (especially toy and tiny breeds) can get chilled pretty quickly.

If you find a bath absolutely necessary, (did Mom roll around in roadkill then lay with her pups?) try sponging him/her clean if possible, keeping the water or towel warm, diluting baby or puppy shampoo (about a capful to a quart) and dipping the cloth in the mixture and rubbing it on the puppy. Keep it wrapped while cleaning so your pup won't get cold! Keep it brief, though. Have a towel warmed up (fresh out of the dryer if you can!) to dry off and warm up puppy. If done properly, it'll feel like mommy's doing the cleaning!

Waiting until your pup is older will help to ensure his/her health and it's always better to play it safe!
