Question
I have a large breed puppy. If her nails are too long can it bother her to stand or walk?

Answer
In short- yes. Eventually if walked on hard surfaces she should wear them down but it's best to start early trimming them so they don't split and crack as she grows. If she lives in a non urban environment then there is nothing to wear them down. The main difficulty comes as an older dog who's nail are overgrown has difficulty standing straight and it affects  the skeleton. It is also dangerous if stairs are a part of dogs daily routine, getting up and down, splaying the foot, getting caught out of doors.
Starting them as puppies also makes them more comfortable being handled on sensitive paws.
