QuestionHow do I care for the hair in her ears w/o causing too much discomfort?
Thank you,
AnswerUse ear POWDER to get a good grip on the hair inside the ear canal and pull out small amounts at a time. Powder is like a rosin and really helps. After you have got them out, an ear wash squirted into the canal and gently massaged at the base of the ear causes them to shake their heads and loosens up any dirt and buildup that collects. Use a cotton pad and wipe away the excess. If there is little black specks you will need to see a vet about mites. If it smells like an old sneaker the vet is in order for that as well.
Yeast and mites will be the most common ear problems for most dogs. So if they are shaking their heads and scratching their ears - you may have a problem.
Otherwise it is a good idea to flush and pluck on a monthly basis with your regular groomings.
