Question
Ever hear of a dog getting poked in the eye severely.

My dog was at the groomer and she tends to nap at the brush when its near her face. Well i guess by some freak of nature she nipped and the brush or tried to jump off the table and got stabbed in the eye by a brush. Her eye filled with blood i went to the vet they took my dog to and he told me to put these antibiotic drops in her eye and something that dilates the pupil to keep her from losing her eye site since the pupil closed shut cuz of the blood in it to prevent pain or for whatever reason. He told me to come back in 3 days and see what happens. So i went to another vet (my vet right after i left there) he thought the guy did the right thing till he call a optisomething (eye doc) and they told me i had to bring her right away cuz if the hole didnt close it can reopen and infect or kill the eye and the only one near was in tampa so i went for a drive. they gave her pain killers, antibiotics every 2 hrs and dialaters throughout the night. The eye doc called me this morning and said it looks like the hole was small enough to close itself and clot which is a good thing she said the only fear now is infection and will take 2wks of antibiotics. And there should be no long term affects. I'm just happy the groomer was insured and said they'll handle anything that happens.

By the way the dog is my child she is a 2 yr old 3 lb mutt (we really have no idea what she is we were told a chipoo but she looks more like a black tea cup multeepoo.)

Answer
Hi Billy.  Thank you for sharing your "Grooming Disaster" story.  I'm sure other people reading this will agree that you and your dog very lucky that she didn't lose her eye.

I'm also impress that your groomer had insurance and did the right thing by paying the medical bills.  I am amazed how some breeders, groomers, pet stores, and other pet related merchants think they should not be held responsible for medical issues.

Thanks again for sharing your story, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions.  Sincerely, Penny D.
