i have a six month old airdale iwould like to get groomed properly any suggestions would help

when you say properly groomed does that mean you  want to have it stripped? Or that you just want to make sure you have the correct pattern done on the dog and not those big mutton chop cheeks and baggy pantallons that so many groomers mistake for an airedale pattern?
Getting the dog stripped is more difficult to find a trained person to do that. Clippering you're going to have to ask to see the work of whoever you find. Stripping/handplucking, is usually charged by the hour and quite a bit more expensive when done correctly
Best thing however is to go to the Airedale club and request a recommendation. What did the breeder tell you to do? Did they recommend anyone? Did you ask them? I am assuming your airedale came from a breeder- but I may be wrong.
What part of the country do you live in? In this economy you may be able to get a professional handler to take you on. It certainly is worth the difference.
